Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) was introduced by Government of India in the year 1950 to ensure a steady flow of skilled workers in various trades for domestic industry to raise quantitatively & qualitatively the industrial production by systematic training, to reduce unemployment among youth by providing them employable training, to cultivate & nurture a technical industrial attitude in the minds of the youth of the district.

The scheme was Introduced in the state of Jammu & Kashmir in the year 1958 & ITI Rajouri was established in the year 1962. District Rajouri is located in north of Jammu at a distance of 150 Kms from Jammu, winter capital of Union Territory. ITI Rajouri is located at about 2.0 Kms from Main Town of Rajouri.


ITI Rajouri is providing skill training in Engineering and Non Engineering trades with 18 trade having a total seating capacity of 542, to provide an opportunity to female candidates desirous to under training in various trades a separate women  wing is being run at the institute exclusively for women candidates, besides 30% reservation for women candidates for all the trades is being strictly followed. Effort are being made by the institute to  bridge the gap in respect of demand and supply of skilled Human Resource in the District.

 

Besides providing skill enhancement programmes for the institutional faculty to have better skill based training, “placement cell” is functional at the institute to facilitate counseling and placement for passed out trainees.


The institute is having quality training facilities by way of well developed infrastructure, latest equipped workshops, and library containing updated books on all subjects besides trained faculty to meet the challenges of fast coming technology.
The institute is committed to the cause of developing a skill base among the youth to enable them to earn a respectable livelihood to help to create an economically viable society.
