The Craftsmen Training Scheme is conducted by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) all over the country, through the respective State Council for Vocational Training (SCVTs) in the states. On Completion of the training,  All India Trade Test (AITT) is conducted by the NCVT leading to the award of National Trade Certificate (NTC) Upon successful qualification of the AITT (which is generally the qualification required for the recruitment to the subordinate technical services at the National and the State Levels). The possession of the NTC opens wide doors of employment in the Industrial Sector within the country and as skilled workers abroad.

Some of the Trades which are not affiliated with the NCVT are conducted by the SCVT in the State and a trainee is awarded, State Trade Certificate on successful qualification of the Trade Test to be conducted by the SCVT.
